Self-made objects investigate the possibility of designing autonomous objects that react exclusively to their main functionalities, thereby eliminating the user from the instructions leaflet. The project examines the world of household appliances, an environment where labour saving devices still play a central role. It focuses on shifting this role onto its contrary, in which the object serves its own duty to itself. The resulting autonomous product seek to manipulate our home-scape and negotiate new psychological relationships. It searches for new boundaries, stronger experiences and unusual paths for personal realisation within material culture. |
